The 'Granny Killer'

The crimes of John Glover, the infamous ‘Granny Killer’ who murdered six elderly women on Sydney’s North Shore in 1989–90, outraged the country. The crimes were unique in that they were committed by a portly, grey-haired man in his 50s against frail, elderly women. Glover, an English immigrant who married into a comfortable lifestyle in the Sydney suburb of Mosman, focused his deep-seated anger and sexual perversions against defenceless ‘Mosman matrons’ in the suburbs near where he lived. The callousness of Glover’s crimes also prompted detectives to look into the unsolved murders of several elderly women.
