Kate drives home after a lovely evening yet bittersweet ending in her yellow VW Beetle. She arrives outside her apartment block her mind swirling around this evenings events and decides to continue driving. She asks herself a million questions such as; why can’t she stay the night? Does she even want to? Would she be okay with him staying at hers? If he did stay at hers would that buy her time to become comfortable with the idea of staying at his? No matter how she phrases the questions every route leads back to Karl, her deceased husband. After all, he had only been dead for 18 months and here she was hopping into bed with another man. It was okay to fantasize, she would fantasize about other men when she was married – it was just human nature. The act itself however, that made it real. There was no longer the safety of fantasy.
