The Oberammergau Passion Play is the oldest festival in Germany and the most famous play of the Passion of Christ. Originating in 1633 as a promise to God to save them from the plague, (Black Death). Villagers promised to perform a play by 60 to 70 actors of the last days of Christ every 40 years. Since 1634 to 2010, the Oberammergau Passion Play is still being performed in Bavaria, Germany every 40 years. The next performance is planned in the year 2050.
